Uji-Cha (Kyoto)

Uji is well known as a historical tea producing area.

It is said that the origin of tea cultivation was when Sousai brought tea seeds from the Sung dynasty in China to Japan and The Venerable Myoe sowed them in Togano and Uji in Kyoto.

Uji has built up its refined brand image as a producer of high grade tea such as Gyokuro and Tencha (Matcha).
